6 September 2010: Financial constraints and the short time allotted by the Election Commission to finalize candidature, has forced the Chin National Party (CNP), representing Chin people, to cut down on the number of candidates it is nominating for the 2010 general elections in Burma.
Chin Progressive Party nominates 41 candidates in Chin state
3 September 2010: The Chin Progressive Party (CPP) is nominating 41 parliamentary candidates for the forthcoming 2010 general elections in Chin state on November 7.
USDP orders members to cast advance vote in Chin state
2 September 2010: In what could tantamount to a blatant attempt at flouting electoral laws the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has ordered its members and government employees, who have been transferred, to cast votes in advance from August 21 in Falam constituency, Chin state western Burma.
1 September 2010: In a sudden move the Mizoram police in northeast India have pushed back 82 Burmese nationals to the Indo-Myanmar border on 30 August. They were arrested on August 28.
EC prohibits retired preacher from contesting polls
31 August 2010: A retired preacher Pu San cung, who is a prominent personality, is not being permitted to contest the forthcoming 2010 election from the Chin Progressive party (CPP) in Falam township, Chin state western Burma by the Election Commission (EC).
25 August 2010: Chin political parties keen on contesting the elections on November 7 in Burma are struggling with financial constraints to fund its candidates for contesting the elections. The Election Commission of Burma has to be given Kyat 5 lakhs for each candidate.
24 August 2010: In a major step and in order to meet the Election Commission deadline, the Ethnic Nationalist Development Party (ENDP) has finalized candidates for the forthcoming 2010 general election at its conference in Lailenpi village, Matupi township, Chin state western Burma on from August 12 to 13.
USDP uses school building for poll campaign in Chin state
23 August 2010: The Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has used a government primary school building for election campaign among the people in constituency 2 at the behest of Pu Gosianthang, the Chairman of sub-Rihkhawdar, Falam townships on 9 August.
21 August 2010: The National Unity Party (NUP) will provide Kyat 5 lakh to each of its candidates in Chin state for the forthcoming 2010 general election, western Burma.
